Guilin Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Guilin Pharmaceutical") is located in Guilin, Guangxi, an international tourist resort famed for its unparalleled landscapes. Its predecessor was Guilin Pharmaceutical Factory founded in 1958. In 1960, it merged with the renowned Shanghai Tang Shiyi Pharmaceutical Factory, which relocated inland, to establish Guilin Pharmaceutical Factory of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Following corporate restructuring in 2003, it became a holding subsidiary of Fosun Pharma.
Guilin Pharmaceutical is a comprehensive pharmaceutical enterprise specializing in the R&D, production and sales of chemical medicines. It manufactures over 200 varieties falling into four major categories: tablets, capsules, injections and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). It is currently a leading pharmaceutical exporter in Guangxi and has paid more than 100 million yuan in taxes in Guilin for ten consecutive years.
Guilin Pharmaceutical serves as a direct supplier to world organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO), The Global Fund (TGF), and Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV). The production management of its APIs, tablets and injections complies with international GMP standards. Up to now, a total of 40 of its products have passed WHO Prequalification (WHO-PQ). Two production lines covering three product varieties have obtained US FDA certifications. Its products are sold to more than 80 countries and regions worldwide. Artesunate, an antimalarial drug independently developed and manufactured by the Company, was granted New Drug Certificate Class I No. X-01 of the People’s Republic of China. Artesunate and its series products are highly recommended in the global fight against malaria and known as the "malaria killer". By dosage calculation, injectable artesunate has treated over 92 million severe malaria patients to date, most of whom are children under five years old.
To meet internationalization demands and achieve sustainable corporate development, Guilin Pharmaceutical has invested hundreds of millions of yuan to build an internationally compliant artesunate industrialization base. Constructed in accordance with the prevailing GMP requirements of the US FDA, EU and WHO, the base is equipped with world-leading technologies and facilities. Guilin Pharmaceutical holds the titles of National Intellectual Property Advantage Enterprise, National High-tech Enterprise and Guangxi High-tech Enterprise. It is also a training base for GMP inspectors of the former China Food and Drug Administration and a Time-honored Brand of Guangxi. In 2020, it became Guangxi’s first pharmaceutical export enterprise and Guilin’s first enterprise to obtain Customs AEO Advanced Certification. In 2021, it won the Nomination Award of the 4th China Quality Award for its "Product Lifecycle Quality Management Model based on Dual Circulation and Dual Driving", the only award-winning organization from Guangxi in that session. In 2022, it became Guangxi’s first pharmaceutical enterprise accredited as an Approved Exporter by China Customs.
In recent years, it has earned numerous honors and titles including National Worker Pioneer, National Youth Work Safety Demonstration Post, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Chairman Quality Award, Guilin Mayor Quality Award, one of the first batch of Regional Industrial Leading Enterprises, one of the first batch of Regional Manufacturing Single Champion Enterprises, Guangxi Contract-abiding and Creditworthy Enterprise, Guangxi Cleaner Production Enterprise, Guangxi Green Factory, Guangxi Enterprise R&D Center, and Guangxi Harmonious Labor Relations Unit. In 2015, injectable artesunate, its therapeutic drug for severe malaria, was listed on the annual "Honor Roll" of Prescrire, an independent French medical journal, making it one of the few original Chinese medicines featured on the list. For the past five years, the Company has consistently ranked on the "Annual China Pharmaceutical Foreign Trade List — Top 10 Exporters of Western Pharmaceutical Preparations". In addition, from 2017 to 2021, Guilin Pharmaceutical was awarded the honor of Outstanding Enterprise in the Chemical Pharmaceutical Industry and multiple Outstanding Product Brand awards for five consecutive years.
